SATPURA
A Tale of the Seven Mountains

Satpura’s dramatic terrain of deep ravines, cascading waterfalls, and vast grasslands is home to the “Satpura Famous Five”: Tigers, Leopards, Sloth Bears, Indian Gaurs and the park’s mascot, the Malabar Giant Squirrel. Interspersed with teak forests and hidden valleys, this varied landscape nurtures incredible biodiversity and sets the stage for immersive wildlife experiences. Satpura is also a paradise for bird lovers.
It is one of the few places in India where you might spot a tiger from the water. Boat safaris on the Denwa River offer a peaceful and rewarding way to explore the park, with regular sightings of marsh crocodiles, freshwater turtles and the occasional big cat along the riverbanks. Full-day safaris with few vehicles around offer a true sense of exclusivity, while eco-conscious, luxurious lodges provide intimate stays that blend seamlessly with the environment.

Satpura’s proximity to Pachmarhi, the only hill station in Madhya Pradesh, adds to its appeal. The region is also home to ancient rock shelters adorned with prehistoric cave paintings, offering a blend of adventure, history and wilderness. The Denwa River, winding through forested hills and valleys, adds to the area’s serene and timeless beauty.
